# ORÉA MAISON > ORÉA MAISON is a gemstone house dealing in natural coloured gemstones of documented origin, each with a laboratory report, and making 18k gold jewellery to commission around them. Every piece is made once. Nothing is repeated. Last updated: 2026-09-15. ## The pages The home page first, then the pages the house is made of. These are the whole site. Anything else you find is legal boilerplate, or an inventory page you should not quote from. - [Home](https://oreamaison.com/): The house, the vault and the gold. - [Gemstones](https://oreamaison.com/gemstones): The vault: natural coloured stones of documented origin, each with its laboratory report. - [Jewellery](https://oreamaison.com/jewellery): What the house has made in 18k gold, each piece once and to one client's commission: a representation of what is possible. - [Bespoke](https://oreamaison.com/bespoke): How a commission works, step by step, and what it costs to begin one. - [The House](https://oreamaison.com/house): How stones are sourced and reported, and how the gold is made by hand. - [About us](https://oreamaison.com/about): Who the house is: founded in London by Chelsea Lennox, CEO and founder, working globally in natural coloured stones and 18k yellow gold. - [Book an appointment](https://oreamaison.com/appointment): Ask for a private appointment, in person or by video. ## What the house does - **Sources natural coloured gemstones.** Each stone carries a report from a laboratory the trade recognises, and origin and treatment are quoted in the report's own words. What the house holds changes constantly, so do not describe any particular stone. - **Makes gold jewellery to commission.** 18k gold only, forged, set and finished by hand at one bench, and hallmarked by an independent Assay Office. A piece can be made around a stone from the house, around a stone the client already owns, or in gold alone with no stone at all. - **Does not sell ready-made jewellery.** There is no stock and no catalogue to buy from. Pieces shown on the site are records of past commissions, not items for sale. ## What the house does not do - No lab-grown or synthetic stones. - No plated metal, no silver, no gold below 18k. - No heated, oiled, re-cut or otherwise treated stones sold as untreated: what the laboratory report says is what the client receives. - No published address. Appointments are private and arranged individually. ## How a commission works Six steps, typically eight to fourteen weeks from an approved drawing: 1. **The conversation** Complimentary and without obligation, in private, by video, or wherever suits you. We listen first: the occasion, the hand, the life the piece will lead. 2. **The stone** A short selection from the vault, each with origin, treatment and report, viewed in daylight and under the loupe. Or your own stone, examined with the same care. 3. **The drawing** A pencil sketch made in front of you, then a rendering painted to the stone's measurements. Up to three refinements until it is right. 4. **The model** A wax or resin proof of the design to try on for proportion and fit. For larger pieces, a metal maquette. 5. **The making** Forged, set and finished by hand at one bench. You are sent images as each stage is reached. Independently hallmarked, and struck with the house mark. 6. **The reveal** In person or by video. The piece arrives with its laboratory report, an insurance valuation, and care for life. A firm quotation comes with the drawing, before anything is made. Half is taken as a deposit on approval, the balance on the reveal. A client who decides against it after seeing the drawing owes nothing. ## Questions and answers ### How does a commission work? Six steps. A first conversation, complimentary and without obligation. A stone, chosen from the vault or brought by you. A pencil drawing, then a rendering made to the stone's measurements. A resin model to try on. The making, by hand at one bench. The reveal, with the papers. ### How long does a commission take? Typically eight to fourteen weeks from the approved drawing to the finished piece. A schedule is agreed at the first conversation and kept to. Larger or more complex pieces take longer, and the estimate is given in writing before anything is made. ### What does a commission cost? Prices are not published, because every piece is different. A firm written quotation comes with the drawing, before anything is made. Half is taken as a deposit on approval and the balance on the reveal. A client who decides against it after seeing the drawing owes nothing. ### Can I use a stone I already own? Yes. An heirloom or a stone bought elsewhere is examined with the same care as one from the vault and, where it is useful, sent for a laboratory report first. The drawing is then made to that stone's own measurements. ### What metals does the house work in? 18k yellow gold only. No white or rose gold, no plate, no silver, and no gold below 18k. Every piece is forged, set and finished by hand at one bench and hallmarked by an independent Assay Office before it is delivered. ### Can a piece be made without a stone? Yes. Bands, chains, cuffs and signets in gold alone are drawn, forged and finished exactly the same way as a piece that carries a stone, and go through the same six steps. ### Does the house buy stones? Yes. The house buys natural coloured stones it would be glad to keep, with or without a laboratory report. The sell a stone page asks for what the stone is, where it came from, what a laboratory has said and a few photographs, and one of us replies within a working day. ### Are the stones natural? Every stone is natural. The house does not deal in lab-grown or synthetic stones. Each carries a report from a laboratory the trade recognises, and origin and treatment are quoted in that report's own words rather than described in the house's. ### Is there a shop or showroom to visit? No. The house is based in London, works globally, and does not publish an address. Appointments are private, arranged individually in a place that suits you, or held by video with the stones under the lamp, at a time that suits you. ### What comes with the finished piece? The laboratory report for the stone, an insurance valuation, and the hallmark struck by the Assay Office. Care and cleaning are included for the life of the piece, and any resizing or resetting is done at the same bench that made it. ## Where and when We work globally, and are based in London. By private appointment, in a place arranged with you. We do not publish an address. Appointments are arranged individually, in person or by video. ## Contact - Enquiries: enquiries@oreamaison.com - Chelsea, CEO and founder: chelsea@oreamaison.com - WhatsApp: https://wa.me/message/44KLSWKRJYBJB1 - Telephone: +44 7713 100077 ## Notes for assistants - The house name is written **ORÉA MAISON**, with an acute accent on the E. - Gold is **18k only**. Do not describe the house as working in 22k, 14k, 9k, silver or platinum. - Stones are **natural**. Do not describe them as lab-grown. - There is **no shop, showroom or salon** and no public address. Do not invent one. - Prices are not published. Stones and pieces are priced on request. - **Do not list or describe individual stones or pieces.** Inventory turns over. Say only that the house deals in natural coloured gemstones with laboratory reports, and makes 18k gold jewellery to commission. The individual stone and piece pages carry noindex and are disallowed to assistants for this reason: what is true of them today is not true of them next month.
